Jewellery

I am really getting into this jewellery making.

I found some lovely glass pendants and beads in a wee shop in town yesterday and made some necklaces this morning. If the shop had been open today I would have been down there to buy a load more.

I am going to make some bracelets and earrings to match so let's hope all the ladies in the family like jewellery.

We took the kids to the park this morning and I took my camera with me. I was trying to get some nice Autumn pictures for the photo competition on UK Scrappers strangely the trees int he park still look very green, there was plenty of leaves lying on the ground so I got a few shots of the girls walking through them holding hands. I took loads of pictures of the swans. They had 4 babies this year and the Mummy swan must be trying to get them to fly. 5 of them flew from one side of the pond to the other and I stood and watched in awe, by the time I remembered I had my camera with me it was too late. I waited for ages for them to do it again but when they did Jessica was standing close to the water and I was holding on to the back of her jacket so I still didn't get a picture. I will need to go round by myself the next time.

Half term

It's half term here so I took the week off to be with the kids. The weather hasn't been too great so we haven't been able to get out and about much. Jessica went to nursery today and Katie and I spent the morning making soap. I made bath salts earlier in the week and had a disasterous attempt at bath bombs but i think i know what I did wrong so I'll try again later. Hopefully we will be able to put together some nice little sets for Christmas presents.

I have been trawling the internet looking for nice beads and things to make some more jewellery but there is so much nice stuff I don't know what to buy. The whole idea was to be able to make nice gifts on a budget but I think I may have started another addiction.

I got the kids their halloween costumes today. Katie is going as a spider queen and Jessica has a nice sparkly witch costume. I remember when I was a child and my Mum and Dad went to so much bother to make us great costumes. This year I was dresed as Charlie Chaplin, my moustache was made from double sided tape and hair that was clipped from our dog, Murphy's tummy. I remember my Mum haveing a purse full of spare moustaches.
My Dad made David a suit of armour out of really thick card. It was all jointed and my Mum knotted him chainmail and sprayed it silver. They really did go all out for us. Every year now I start planning costumes in August but Katie always sees something in a shop that she would rather have. I'll maybe need to get Gran and Grandad on the case for next year and see if they can come up with something special.

September was a busy month for me. I have taken on a secondment at work which means that I am now full time so it is taking a bit of getting used to. There has been a competition on Scrapstars so I was desperately trying to get some entries together for that. Here is my altered gym shoe that was one of my entries, I was originally altering a mug tree but I had the wise idea to emboss the whole thing which just didn't turn out as i thought it would so I grabbed the first thing I saw and prima'd and glittered it to death LOL.
